Here are the three descriptions for the possible charity choices again. Remember, $100 + 50% of whatever donations we bring in during the month of December will go towards the charity that receives the majority vote. The Leprechaun Foundation:
The Leprechaun Foundation is a nonprofit organization based out of Cleveland, OH. Their mission is to “grant wishes to terminally and chronically ill children”. These wishes can involve material items such as books or toys, trips, meet-and-greets with celebrities, and much more. According to their website, 98 cents of every dollar goes towards their mission of fulfilling wishes for children. All officers, directors, and members of this foundation are volunteers, therefore no donations are used for administrative cost or salaries. While this is a smaller organization, I have had some personal experience with them and the work that they do. If you would like to view their website, you can do so at http://www.leprechaunfoundation.org/01_about.html.
Feeding America is a nonprofit organization that is known as the “nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization”. They help provide food or monetary assistance to over 60,000 food pantries and meal programs throughout the United States. They also help advocate for legislation that would provide stronger food assistance programs for at-risk groups such as children and seniors. They have a four-star rating (90%+) on Charity Navigator for both financial spending and accountability and transparency. You can visit their website at https://www.feedingamerica.org/.
Marine Corps Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots is a nonprofit organization that aims to “collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas”. They assist needy families in providing Christmas joy for their young children through at least one special gift at Christmas time. 97% of all incoming donations go directly towards fulfilling the goal of spreading Christmas cheer to less fortunate children. They have a 4-star rating (90%+) for accountability and transparency on Charity Navigator, and a 3-star rating (80%+) for financial spending, with an overall score of 4-stars. You can view their website at https://www.toysfortots.org/Default.aspx.
